Tybee Island Real Estate

Tybee Island is where you’ll find the beaches in Savannah. Just a 20-minute drive from downtown Savannah, Tybee is a barrier island with over 3 miles miles of public beaches and endless views of the Atlantic Ocean and undulating sand dunes. It’s Savannah’s perfect place for sunbathing, walking, biking, fishing, sailing or frolicking like the Atlantic Bottlenose Dolphins in the surf.

Named Savannah Beach in the 1950’s to add promotional appeal, the name was since reverted by the city to Tybee Island. It’s a sleepy little beachfront community with neighborly residents, quaint local restaurants, historical sites, local shops and galleries. Visitors and locals alike are always mindful of the sea turtles that nest on the beach.

Real estate on Tybee is quite affordable, especially for an area with stunning views of the ocean and salt marshes. The locals pride themselves on keeping things simple and move on “Tybee Time,” so you won’t find lavish hotels or flashy boardwalks there, but make no mistake….whether a cozy cottage or majestic home on Officer’s Row, the homes on Tybee area all appealing in their own way and echo the unique eccentricity of the island itself. The congeniality of its’ residents attracts lots of permanent visitors and available residences range from beautiful beachfront homes to cottages, condominiums and small bungalows tucked away just a few blocks off the beaten path.
